Federal Budget: Back in Black, But Still ICT Decisions to be Taken

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has returned the Budget to surplus for the first time in 15 years, but while it contains a wealth of new ICT investment, the budget papers reveal that there are still significant investment decisions to be taken.

Finance Minister Katy Gallagher had already confirmed the 2023-24 Budget would include additional digital funding for the Australian Digital Health Agency, MyGov, and Veterans Affairs, and we also finally got details on the election promises to create an in-house consulting unit and an Australian version of the United States’ Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
