In other public sector ICT and digital news for 24 August:

• The Federal Government has announced $79 million in grants for digital health technologies, new medical devices and medicines. The organisations set to receive the funding are ANDHealth, the Medical Research Commercialisation Fund (MRCF), and MTPConnect.    
• The Federal Government has responded to an efficiency review of the National Archives 18 months after its initial release. The government has agreed to 14 of the 20 recommendations made in the initial review.   
• The Department of Defence is currently seeking a new head of Australian Industry Capability after the previous leader suddenly resigned. There have been other significant appointments across the Australian Public Service, including Lynda McAlary-Smith as Victoria’ Small Business Commissioner and Sally Dowling as the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions.   
• The Federal Communications and Home Affairs departments have begun a search for suppliers to deliver a $2.2 million national cell broadcast messaging system (NMS) to send SMS warnings during emergencies and natural disasters.    
• Three new data centre providers have been certified under the government’s hosting certification framework. This brings the number of vendors able to host protected government data up to six.    
• Sydney-based OCR Labs has become the first private company to receive accreditation from the government to provide digital identity verification software as part of the upcoming digital ID program.
