• Some prominent public sector appointments across the country within the past week include:
  • Matthew Rippon as the new Deputy CEO of Intelligence  at the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC);
  • Susan Kluth as the Assistant Secretary for Data Analysis at the Department of Education, Skills and Employment; and
  • Christopher De Luis as the Senior Executive of Opportunities at the Australian Space Agency.
• The NSW Department of Customer Service will make ServiceNow its centralised hub for corporate services, including finance, HR, payroll, and ERP, as part of a 12-month service delivery transformation initiative.
• The South Australian Minister for Emergency Services, Vincent Tarzia, has announced a $13.5 million investment into automatic vehicle location (AVL) equipment for the state’s firefighter vehicles.
• Minister for Customer Service and Digital, Victor Dominello, has announced that Service NSW will be conducting a closed pilot on data flow between the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and the Service NSW mobile app. The trial will include the vaccination data of up to 500 regional NSW residents.
• ServiceNow has won a $6.3 million deal with eHealth NSW to deliver the Vaccination Administration Management (VAM) platform. The vaccination management system is expected to accelerate the vaccination rollout throughout the latter half of 2021.
• The Victorian government has announced over $50 million worth of tech investments with the release of the 2021 Cyber Strategy, which replaces the state’s first-ever cybersecurity strategy covering 2016 to 2020.
• The Department of Defence has recently handed out more than $100 million worth of sovereign capability contracts, including $1.8 million for high-powered laser technology from the University of South Australia and $7.4 million for a passive radar system for the Australian Army.
