In other public sector ICT and digtal news for the 18th of January:

Recruitment processes at Victoria Police for a new a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) as well as a new Chief Digital Officer (CDO) are underway, with both job advertisements now closed. The CISO role reports to the CDO and the CDO reports to the Deputy Secretary, IT and Infrastructure, Karl Kent.
The WA Government has launched the ServiceWA mobile app, which allows users to show proof of vaccination, check-in at businesses and venues and use their G2G Pass for interstate travel. The app utilises the Australian Government’s Digital Identity platform, and Services Australia provides its COVID 19 digital certificate.
Services Australia will pay Infosys another $71 million to continue work on its new payment calculation engine, bringing the cost of the new engine to at least $135.4 million. The payment engine is the vital core of the agency’s billion-dollar Welfare Payment Infrastructure Transformation (WIPT).
The Treasury has appointed Heath Axelby as its new Chief Information Officer after acting in the role for six months.
The National Indigenous Australians Agency has appointed Jody Broun as CEO. Broun has 30 years of experience in Aboriginal affairs at state and federal levels in NSW and WA. Her previous roles include Director-General of Aboriginal Affairs in NSW and Executive Director of Aboriginal Housing and Infrastructure for the WA Department of Housing and Works.
The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has made three Senior Executive appointments:
- Tristan Reed as the First Assistant Secretary of Analytics and Integrity;
- Ricardo Alberto as the Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure, Platforms and Projects; and
- Jacqueline (Jacqui) McKellar as the Assistant Secretary of Security Operations.
The Federal Government will pay Deloitte a further $4.5 million to continue work on the myGov platform, which is now in its final beta testing phase. Deloitte has received over $45 million since 2020 for the project, making it Deloitte’s highest value deal with the Australian government. Deloitte’s top five Federal contracts are:
- $23.0 million - ‘GOVDXP Horizon 1’ for the DTA
- $10.2 million - data and analytics services for the ATO
- $8.6 milllion - network analysis program for Defence
- $7.4 million - Relationship Authorisation Manager System for the ATO
- $7.2 million - ICT purchasing services for the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.
Macquarie Telecom is now on the NSW Government’s cloud purchasing arrangement panel,. Other providers on the panel include Amazon Web Services, Microsoft and IBM.
The NSW Government has introduced grants of up to $100,000 to support trials and pilots for bushfire response technology. The grants program is a part of a $28 million funding package to support bushfire research in NSW.
The Department of Defence has launched the D.Start Ignite program, connecting Australian researchers and SMEs with local industry and the Defence Force. The program is currently accepting applicants for a free, 11-week virtual course by CSIRO on Defence innovation and entrepreneurship.
