Queensland’s new Liberal National government has sent a clear signal that digitalising business and citizen interactions is a high priority by establishing a dedicated department for customer service housing the Whole of Government (WofG) ICT and digital function.

Established on 1 November 2024, the new Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business will be overseen by minister Steve Minnikin and will likely become one of the government’s most consistent recipients of new digital and ICT funding, given its broad mandate across digital, cyber, customer service and shared service systems.
